I first started programming around the age of 10, when I got the program QBasic. My games were small and simple; minimal player interaction, extremely short, and basically not fun. My skill in programming gradually began to increase, however, when I received VisualBasic. I taught myself how to make a game that was authentically fun. My first game from this was Legend of Littleguy, a very simple RPG.
Eventually I got Flash, and my focus shifted from programming to animating. I loved making cartoons for my friends to see, and my friends loved to see my cartoons! I set up a website at GeoCities that they could periodically check on. Eventually, my heart moved on to other things, like video games, etc.
Years passed, until one day I decided to check out Flash again. Not in the mood to make a cartoon, I decided to make a basic game. Using the Help files provided with Flash, I taught myself how to make a basic game. These games were, in the best sense of the word, boring. However, they were great learning steps to get me where I am today.
Even today, each game I make teaches me something new. Hopefully I will have one day learned so much that every game I make becomes a masterpiece. That's my goal with Flash - to make one great game.
Today I make games on a somewhat regular basic, when I'm not playing video games, that is. I try to put something in my games that makes it stand out from the crowd. Sometimes these games are great, sometimes they aren't. That's the fun part of what I do - seeing how people react to something new.
