Firework Avoidance 2

August 11, 2008 13:43 by pieguy48

So I never put it on here, but I released Firework Avoidance 2 on Newgrounds and deviantArt. I know I said my next game was going to be an RPG, but had to put that on hold for a bit. FA2 was a much easier project at the moment.

Idiot idiot me didn't completely test it before I released it: There was a glitch that made the fireworks not reach the bottom. I've fixed it now, but a little bit too late, as everyone's already played it. Anyway, thanks to Koalafun for sponsoring it, and the talented music artists of NG for letting me use their work.

What's coming up

July 25, 2008 23:17 by pieguy48
I'm not dead. I know you guys were worried, all 3 of you. I'm out of town at the moment, so I can't update the website. A couple things first: I know the CS2 page shows Alphacide instead of CS2. D'oh. Also, I haven't updated the homepage in a while. Game-wise, ClickToPlays are on hold for now until I finish my latest project. All I can say is it's music-based, but it's a sequel, which usually don't work too well, as I've learned in the...erm, recent...past. But yeah, that's about it. Completely necessary blog post, I know =)

Did I say a day? Silly me...

July 14, 2008 23:46 by pieguy48

Of course, you know that by "every day" I actually meant "every other day", right?

I fell asleep while I was making today's game T_T

The Minigame Maaaaniac!

July 14, 2008 12:56 by pieguy48
So my new game-making strategy is to make a game in an hour or less once a day. Obviously this isn't going to last for long, but it'll be fun. I started this yesterday, and you can play the first game on my deviantArt page. I won't put these on NG or anything, as they'll no doubt get nothing above a 2, but instead I'm going to put them on dA, where there's a much more casual crowd. I'll eventually put them on here, and maybe boost web traffic a bit.

" I really hope it does well"...

July 5, 2008 22:13 by pieguy48

Little did I know...little did I know...

 All-time low score on NG.

I just don't understand. Why? The first game got a good score, so I make improvements to it, and now suddenly it doesn't even get a 3...It's depressing, considering how much time and effort I put into this game, and people just suddenly decide it sucks.

So Circle Strike is in its grave, and it's staying there. My next game will more than likely be an RPG, as I have some help from a friend of mine, who is a wonderful pixel artist.

I also might be getting some help in the music department, also. Another friend of mine is working to buy FL Studio. If everything works out right, Pieguy Productions might be expanding to a 3-man team.

But we'll see. This is all just speculation, there are so many things that can happen. We may even decide we don't like working with each other (which definitely isn't the case right now), so nothing's set in stone.

So Many Things...(CS2 Soon)

July 4, 2008 01:38 by pieguy48

It's been a busy week. Let's begin with Circle Strike 2. You should expect a release July 5. Yinan from Flash Ninja Clan has agreed to sponsor the game. I'm really excited about this, and hope you all enjoy it! =)

Alright, so on to other things (equally as exciting). Soon (a couple weeks, at most) you will be able to read reviews for Xbox Live Arcade games over at Live Arcade Review, and some of those reviews will be by me! I'm super excited about this, and I highly suggest you check us out.

Lastly, there's a good chance that an RPG might be heading to PieguyArcade...

And now I present to you something different. The new PP logo as an iPhone/iTouch background! WOO! While I know I'm the only one on earth who will actually use it, it doesn't hurt to try, right? =)

Circle Strike 2 Near Completion

June 27, 2008 14:45 by pieguy48

I've put a lot of work into this game, and I think that it's finally ready to be released. You can expect it in a week or two, assuming everything goes okay. I've learned a great deal from this game, and maybe there's even more to learn from it. But anyway, I hope it does well.

As far as the new enemies go, you've already seen the Minelayer. Minelayers are tanks. They have a ton of health, but they don't attack you directly. They become more deadly over time: The longer you let them live, the more mines they drop, the more time you'll have to spend cleaning up the mines, and the more exposed you are to enemies.

The second enemy, well, isn't really a new enemy. It's a beefed up version of the Fast Triangles and the Minelayers. Not only do they have a lot of health, but they're shielded, making them invulnerable to your attacks. Their shields last 3 seconds, then they have to take it down to charge it up, which takes about 1 second. That's a small window of opportunity to hit an already hard-to-hit enemy.

I've had a blast making this game, and I hope people enjoy it.

Circle Strike 2 Screens

June 15, 2008 14:31 by pieguy48

The first game to receive an update is Circle Strike. I've mainly made graphical improvements, but you can also expect bug fixes, two new enemies, and the like. I've also made an official logo. (finally!)

The new logo.

The new graphics

One of the new enemies. They're easy to take down, but they randomly drop mines.

To-do List

June 10, 2008 15:26 by pieguy48

Well, things have been quiet around here. I've been working on some older games, trying to spruce them up a bit, emphasis on the try. What I do is I make an idea happen. Making the idea look good, well, frankly, I suck at. Maybe some artist will one day come to me and start beating me over the head with paintbrushes and crap until I can draw good. One can dream...

ANYway, I'm making a list of things to do before August. Why am I posting this here? I dunno, maybe just to let you guys know I'm not dead ^^...all...2 of you...So, here goes.

Website related:

  • Fix the graphics
  • Finish the front page
  • Post here more

Games related:

  • Learn the basics of physics in Flash games, and implement that in one game
  • Make at least 3 games less embarrassing in the art department
And that's it for now. Wish me luck.
